Hannah Montana is a Unix-like Linux operating system based on Kubuntu and built around KDE 4.2. It is themed after the famous American television show, Hannah Montana. Its main purpose was to attract young users to Linux.
The most recent version of Hannah Montana Linux(HMLinux) was released in 2009. It was described as fast, stable, and powerful. It comes with wallpapers, KDM, an icon set, colour schemes, and a boot screen with a Hannah Montana theme.
Talking about the overall look and feel, it comes in shades of purple and white. The icons are from KDE’s Oxygen theme. You can also adjust the theme and colour from the settings. If you want to try running it before downloading, then it can also be fetched from http://hannahmontana.sourceforge.net/index.html
The Konqueror web browser, an open-source file manager that offers web access and file viewer functionality for file systems, is included with Hannah Montana Linux. Like Kubuntu, HMLinux is Debian based and uses apt-get as a packaging tool.
Installing Hannah Montana on Linux:
You can download the ISO of HMLinux from the Sourceforge homepage. The ISO is a combination of a LiveCD and an installation CD. It is advised to download it on your virtual machine, which should be configured with 400 MB of RAM, 64 MB of video memory, and an expandable virtual hard drive with a capacity of 8 GB.
Boot the virtual machine and mount the ISO. There you’ll be given an option to boot into the LiveCD environment or “Install to Computer.” From there, the installation process will begin, and it will move to a graphical environment where you can select your language, time zone, and preferred keyboard layout.
The user can choose either the default partitioning options or any customized partitioning options. The next step asks for user information, where you have to enter the username and password for the same. The installation process begins after all of these options have been chosen. Once everythiqng is finished, you will be prompted to restart the computer. After that, your computer has now been set up with HMLinux.
Should you install Hannah Montana Linux on your system?
If you want to try Hannah Montana Linux, you can download it from the download page of the official site, install it on your computer’s virtual machine, or create a bootable USB.
Please note that it has been almost a decade since it was last updated in 2009. It is recommended not to install it on your system.
So, instead of using it, you can make your own Linux distribution like Hannah Montana Linux by using its theme pack. You can download the Hannah Montana Linux Theme Pack here. After downloading it, extract and install it from the.tar.gz package. Once it is installed, reboot your system to make the changes effective.
The Hannah Montana Linux operating system, which is the foundation of the Debian-based Linux architecture, seemingly needs some improvement. Its default desktop environment is barely usable. However, with a little bit of effort, it can be easily replaced with a faster and more stable one. Since it was last updated about ten years ago and does not have ongoing support, it is advised not to download.
What is Hannah Montana Linux based on?
The latest version of Hannah Montana Linux v2 is based on Kubuntu 9.04 “Jaunty Jackalope.” It features KDE Plasma 4.2, and the icons are mostly from KDE’s Oxygen theme.
Is HMLinux virus-proof?
It is claimed that the HMLinx is secure from computer viruses, stable, and quick. It is not significantly impacted by the majority of Windows viruses, and the Linux virus only has an impact when you manually grant it permission to run.
