TrollTech rolls a complete Linux smartphone stack

The Norwegian company, Trolltech, has two product lines of its own: Qtopia and Qt. Now this company has come out with it’s new full Linux smartphone stack and is calling it the GreenPhone based on it’s Qtopia technology platform.

The Linux smartphone comes with communications and packages management utilities all of which are under the GPL license. So the phone has nothing proprietary that you cannot hack or work with.

In 2007, the company announced that all of its inventory for the Greenphone were sold out and the production would no longer be continued since their main purpose of creating the phone was to promote their Qtopia platform and create a community around it.

The new focus was on the Neo FreeRunner phone while Trolltech intends to continue support for its Greenphone.
