Wind River Professional Services
[Sponsor: Wind River]

Wind River Professional Services can assist customers anywhere in the world to successfully adopt Linux as a device software Develop and Run platform.

These are some of the services we commonly provide to companies in the Network Infrastructure industry:
  • Performance optimization
  • Network management
  • Network security
  • Network Compliance Testing
  • Integrate Wireless Networking Support
  • Workbench Integration
  • RTOS to Linux Migration
  • Linux Development Environment
  • Linux Board Support Packages

Performance optimization

More equipment providers are requiring higher throughput and new silicon, which improves performance by incorporating specific functionality. We can modify and extend Wind River Platform software routines with specific calls to the silicon firmware, or optimize virtual stack instances by adding extensions.

Network management

We can enable the monitoring of network resources for the purpose of troubleshooting, detecting potential problems, improving performance, documentation, and reporting by implementing their method of choice including SNMP, CLI and Web-based technologies and models.

Network security

If you have network security requirements beyond what is provided by standard product, we can assist in integrating, extending, and/or optimizing our products to meet your needs. We can offer a range of services to assist you in evaluation, design, and integration/porting.

Network Compliance Testing

If you make protocol enhancements or optimizations the need to verify compliance is important. Wind River can develop, integrate, and verify compliance by running the modified protocols stacks through our ANVL test suite. Including RSTP, GARP, GVRP, GMRP, PIM-SM, and DVMRP.

Integrate Wireless Networking Support

We can identify environmental factors that impact data movement, data integrity and the ability of a given technology to meet project or application requirements. This could include integration of 802.11 (a, b, g) WiFi, ultra wide band, 802.16 (WiMAX), or other stacks. We can help evaluate wireless silicon solutions based on existing target architecture, protocol support required and complexity of drivers. We have hands on experience with wireless drivers from Atheros, Intel, and Broadcom.

Layer 2 Ethernet Switching

Layer 2 Ethernet switching continues to be the most popular Layer 2 transport for TCP/IP. The software and switching silicon/hardware that implement this function is a requirement for all kinds of devices, from the enterprise to the core level devices. Wind River understands the most popular SDKs and can develop or modify switch support packages, integrate 3 rd party Layer 2/3 middleware, migrate your applications, and perform test and verification.

Workbench Integration

If the out-of-box support for Workbench does not fit your specific needs based on the kernel being used, the target architecture, or the host environment, Wind River can integrate Workbench into your projects and unify your VxWorks- and Linux-based projects.

RTOS to Linux Migration

Professional Services can help ease the migration of your current applications to a new platform by analyzing the existing application code, language and constructs to determine a suitable porting strategy. We can also evaluate any hardware dependencies, device drivers and communication stacks.

Linux Development Environment

We work with you to establish and maintain a Linux strategy that includes your specific Linux elements, which are integrated and tested to lower overall cost of software development, enable a shorter development cycle, and allow greater focus on your product to create differentiation.

Linux Board Support Packages

Many times the quality of Linux BSPs obtained from the open source community cannot be assured because all the features have not been tested. Our engineers will analyze the hardware and assemble, develop, and test the elements required to support such objectives such as migration to ATCA.
