Unitech to launch Linux PDA March 11 -- Unitech has confirmed that it plans to ship a Linux-based PDA on March 11. The model PA960W will be similar in appearance to the company's existing Windows CE based model PA960, but with a different display -- and, of course, a Linux-based OS.

Hacking the Roku media player -- Author and developer John Lombardo has written a detailed technical review of the software development kit (SDK) recently released by Roku for its "Roku" media player for HDTVs (high definition televisions). Lombardo, who authored the first book about embedded Linux, applauds Roku for opening up its device to hackers and hobbyists in the spirit of open source development. However, he does find some limitations once he sets about actually developing a simple application using the SDK.
Embedded Linux powers RFID tunnel readers -- Magellan Technology is using embedded Linux to build advanced RFID tunnel readers capable of reading 50 words of data from 500 stacked tags in less than one second.
