Reciting "we're not a Linux company" like a mantra, Transvirtual Technology last week boasted of a $4.0M funding round, showed off slick new offices, and gave a sneak preview of new Linux/Java technology for web-enabling PDAs, smart phones, set-top boxes, auto-infotainment systems, and other mobile devices.

The two companies announced the availability of a Lineo Embedix operating system image for Panasonic's OEM DVD-RAM drive. The result is that Panasonic's 4.7GB/9.4GB rewritable DVD drive becomes a removable mass storage solution for any ATAPI or SCSI equipped embedded device.
