Linux-powered humanoid robot to visit San Francisco -- LinuxDevices.com has learned that Wakamaru, an experimental Linux-powered humanoid robot made by Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, will make a guest appearance at the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) being held April 22-26 in San Francisco. New Japanese Internet-enabled TV standard likely to use Linux -- Five major Japanese consumer electronics manufacturers are developing a standard for Internet-enabled digital TVs, according to a report from the Dow Jones news service. The effort may be an offshoot of a collaborative Japanese project to develop an embedded Linux OS for consumer devices announced by Matshushita and Sony last Fall. Read full story
OpenZaurus 3.2 is released -- The OpenZaurus project is an alternative Linux distribution for handheld devices, primarily (but not exclusively) for the Sharp Zaurus PDAs.
